Upcoming Movies to look out for in 2009

Category: , , , , By Manu
1. Twilight (2008) - Release on November 21, 2008
"When you can live forever what do you live for?"
Twilight is a romantic-fantasy film directed by Catherine Hardwicke and based on the novel of the same name by Stephenie Meyer. The film stars Kristen Stewart as a teenage girl who falls in love with a vampire, played by Robert Pattinson. You would have seen Robert Pattinson in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire as Cedric Diggory. For those of you looking to fill the void created by Harry Potter you may want to check this out, the book as well.

2. Transporter 3 (2008) - Release on November 26, 2008
"This time, the rules are the same. Except one"
Jason Statham is back in the third outing of 'The Transporter'. This time he's hired by a criminal mastermind to go on a mission to deliver a 'package'. With Frank Martin now electronically rigged, he must complete his mission or die! I loved the first Transporter. Second was OK too from the point of mindless action and unbelievable stunts. I think nobody except Daniel Craig portrays hand to hand combat with such power.

3. The Day the Earth Stood Still (2008) - Release on December 12, 2008
"12.12.08 is the Day the Earth Stood Still "
"The Day the Earth Stood Still" is 20th Century Fox's contemporary reinvention of its 1951 classic. Keanu Reeves portrays Klaatu, an alien whose arrival on our planet triggers a global upheaval. As governments and scientists race to unravel the mystery behind the visitor's appearance, a woman (Jennifer Connelly) and her young stepson get caught up in his mission – and come to understand the ramifications of his being a self-described "friend to the Earth."

4. Watchmen (2009) - Release on March 9, 2009
"Justice is coming to all of us. No matter what we do"
Zack Snyder, the director of "300" is back with a new adaptation of Alan Moore's Graphic novel Watchmen. A complex, multi-layered mystery adventure, "Watchmen" is set in an alternate 1985 America in which costumed superheroes are part of the fabric of everyday society, and the "Doomsday Clock" - which charts the USA's tension with the Soviet Union - is permanently set at five minutes to midnight. When one of his former colleagues is murdered, the washed-up but no less determined masked vigilante Rorschach sets out to uncover a plot to kill and discredit all past and present superheroes. As he reconnects with his former crime-fighting legion - a ragtag group of retired superheroes, only one of whom has true powers - Rorschach glimpses a wide-ranging and disturbing conspiracy with links to their shared past and catastrophic consequences for the future. Their mission is to watch over humanity...but who is watching the watchmen?

5. Monsters Vs Aliens (2009) - March 27, 2009
"We need a Hail Mary pass. We need raw power. We need … monsters."
From the creators of "Shrek", "Kung Fu Panda" and "Madagascar" comes a new animation movie. When space aliens invade America ("The only country UFOs ever seem to land in," says a TV reporter), the government unleashes an adorable band of CG monsters with celebrity voices — Reese Witherspoon is a giant woman, Will Arnett is some sort of sea monster, and Seth Rogen is B.O.B., a dim-witted blob. It worked for Pixar with Monsters, it may for Dreamworks.

6. X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009) - Release on May 1, 2009
Who doesn't love Wolverine from The X-Men. For all those who couldn't get enough of Wolverine in the X-Men movies, here is a movie fully devoted to him. Its sure to be a hit. This is one of the films I look forward to the most. Leading up to the events of "X-Men," "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" tells the story of Wolverine's epically violent and romantic past, his complex relationship with Victor Creed(Sabertooth), and the ominous Weapon X program. Along the way, Wolverine encounters many mutants, both familiar and new, including surprise appearances by several legends of the X-Men universe. No trailer released yet :( . For now will have to satisfy with a couple of promotional images released.

7. Angels and Demons (2009) - Release on May 15, 2009
The team behind the global phenomenon "The Da Vinci Code" returns for the highly anticipated "Angels & Demons," based upon the bestselling novel by Dan Brown. Tom Hanks reprises his role as Harvard religious expert Robert Langdon, who once again finds that forces with ancient roots are willing to stop at nothing, even murder, to advance their goals. Ron Howard, double oscar winner and director of "Beautiful Mind" and "The Da Vinci Code" comes back to direct this prequel. The book is awesome. I daresay even better than Da Vinci Code. Didnt really like The Da Vinci Code cause so much were crammed into the movie, but i have a feeling things will be different this time around.

8. Terminator: Salvation (2009) - Release on May 22, 2009
"I knew it was coming. But this is not the future my mother warned me about. And in this future, I don't know if we can win this war."
In the highly anticipated new installment of "The Terminator" film franchise, set in post-apocalyptic 2018, John Connor, the man fated to lead the human resistance against Skynet and its army of Terminators. But the future Connor was raised to believe in is altered in part by the appearance of Marcus Wright (Sam Worthington), a stranger whose last memory is of being on death row. Connor must decide whether Marcus has been sent from the future, or rescued from the past. As Skynet prepares its final onslaught, Connor and Marcus both embark on an odyssey that takes them into the heart of Skynet's operations, where they uncover the terrible secret behind the possible annihilation of mankind. McG is directing this latest installment of the Terminator franchise. I have to admit that I am a little reserved about this movie cause one of the previous movies of Mcg is Charlies Angels: Full Throttle. :D .You all know how that went. But the plus point is that the seemingly tireless Christian Bale (Dark Knight), who appears to be in every major film I'm hearing these days, is reprising the matured John Connor. Another good thing is you dont have to sit through 2 hrs of horrible acting by our very own Action Hero who is not on this movie, hopefully(you never know).

9. Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (2009) - Release on June 26
"Autobots.. Roll Out"
Optimus Prime and the rest of the Autobots return for the live-action follow up to Michael Bay's 2007 blockbuster "Transformers.Shia LeBouf and incredibly sexy Megan Fox returns to this sequel with Optimus Prime, Bumblebee and some new characters too. I was totally unaware of the already established Transformers franchise when i saw the first film. I totally loved that movie and will definitely watch this one. No trailer Released yet. Not even a picture to go by.

10. Fast and furious (2009) - Release on June 12, 2009
"New model, Original Parts"
Vin Diesel and Paul Walker reteam for the ultimate chapter of the franchise built on speed -- "Fast & Furious." Heading back to the streets where it all began, they rejoin Michelle Rodriguez and Jordana Brewster to blast muscle, tuner and exotic cars across Los Angeles and floor through the Mexican desert in the new high-octane action-thriller. I'm a big fan of the first and second movie(not so much the third). With the return of Vin Deisel I think this is gonna be one hell of a movie.

11. Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs (2009) July 1, 2009
"The Coolest Event In 16000 Years"
The hilarious trio returns with Ellie and the ribcracking Scrat for a third installment of Ice Age. "Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs," to be fully produced in 3-D, is the latest installment to the hit "Ice Age" franchise, which has grossed more than $1.2 billion around the world. The trailer shows Scrat trying for his acorn as usual. This is gonna be one of the most anticipated releases next year. Sid, Manny, Diego and Eliie are back for a brand new adventure.

Hi Manu,Thanks for your interest in exchanging the links.Got to say, your blog's theme and look is really good. The problem in exchanging link is that this blog has a pagerank less than 2.
If you get a pagerank of two or more in the next google update, I will be more than happy to exchange links. But for now it won't be possible.
I will keep on visiting your blog for new updates.
    Regards
