Another song presumably from the much awaited "Venom" from Chamillionaire has released. This is pretty good. I have big expectations for "Venom"

Asher Roth - Be By Myself (Ft. Cee-Lo)
Asher Roth make me hate him and like him alternatively. I absolutely loved him after the "I Love College" single, but lost popularity with his other below par song that hit the net. But he gained some with this one.



Wale - Penthouse Anthem
Wale is a pretty new entry to the Hip Hop main stream, although he has been there for sometime now. Penthouse anthem is a laid back song that is definitely enjoyable.



Wale - Chillin' Feat. Lady Gaga
Chillin' feat Lady Gaga(or is it M.I.A, cause the girl sounds so similar to M.I.A). Personally I liked the version of the song without Lady Gaga.

Just the other day I was browsing and something startling came across my eyes. X Men Origins: Wolverine, which is supposed to release on May 1st, was available for download(of course an incomplete workprint with green screens and ropes still visible). This got my eyes popping out of its sockets, and at the same time my skin crawling at the sheer extent to which pirates are willing to go.

I am a guy who doesn't hate or write off piracy as a completely evil thing. If I really want to see a movie, I will see it in the theaters and won't succumb to piracy. And moreover If you want to have the feel of the movie you should watch it in the theaters. But pirates releasing prints of the movie before the movie has even released is one of then despicable acts-an act devoid of ethics.

This has gone to a new level with Wolverine releasing 2 months before its actual release. Even though all pirates doesn't deserve to be punished, the ones who released(and re-released) are very much deserving of the axe of the law. They should be punished rather hardly for committing such an act of "media terrorism".

And according to sources there was over 100,000 downloads for the movie baffled me. Who would want to see an incomplete version of the movie with strings and green screens and destroy the feel of the movie. And before posting something like this one should think about the amount of work put in to the movie by the actors, director and the whole crew, and how they are destroying it single handedly. You should at least give the movie a couple of weeks in the theater before you do something like this.

You can get the work print of the movie even now on p2p networks, but I strongly recommend against it. Not because of the legal implications but because of our moral obligations. The FBI is on the case and 20th Century Fox looks pretty confident that they will find and prosecute the person/persons behind the leak(and I hope so too). Apparently there is some kind of advanced watermarking employed by Fox(USVO watermarking) which will lead to the culprit.

Flipsyde- When It Was All Good
The much awaited single from their sophomore album. This is a very different Flipsyde from what I have come to love. Chantelle, the new entry to the band, is the lead in the song. Its more of a pop song than the thing they were doing earlier. I just hope there is more different tracks in their new album.

Its scary how much Asher Roth is emulating Eminem. He needs to develop his own style, soon or he'll be in big trouble. I loved "I love College" but the rest of his songs that has leaked is still below par.

Nowadays I listen to anything with the name Kid Cudi. I stumbled upon this track in such a venture. This is a pretty decent track, kinda Clubby.

Akon and T-Pain was enough for me to give this song a chance as I hadn't heard of Ace Hood and I liked it. Pretty decent track this.

Flo Rida's R.O.O.T.S has leaked on internet, but think I'm gonna wait for the actual release. So I'm not posting any songs from him.

An awesome Bollywood version of Apple's iconic iTunes ads! Dancers are silhouetted against a vibrant green background in classic iTunes ad style, performing Bharat Natyam, Kathak, Indian Folk, Hip-Hop, and modern Bollywood dance. The song used is "Bachna Ae Haseeno" from the movie Bachna Ae Haseeno, which is actually a remix of an older song by the same name.



Sure we have known this for long how the iPod has changed the way the world listens to music, revolutionizing the way things are. The new deal between Steven Job’s Apple and Hungama.com means that Indipop music and Bollywood soundtracks can be downloaded from iTunes across America, Europe and Asia with effortless ease and reasonable rates. This will be a big help for the Music Industry in India as its struggling from piracy by opening up a whole new market.

Anyways the ad is catchy, I just wish they didnt use the word Bollywood, which in my opinion is so degrading to Indian Film Industry.

Singer and producer Pharrell bursts into a McDonald’s in Paris, France before they open and starts to dance like Michael Jackson and sings "I want a Big Mac, Filet-O-Fish, Quarter Pounder, French Fries / Icy Coke, Thick Shakes, Sundaes, Apple Pie" for his breakfast. This is hilarious and they didn't even recognize who he was and actually went away leaving him at the store. Is he on crack or something? :D Who does that? Enjoy!!!!!

Nicole Scherzinger - Punchin' (Produced by Polow Da Don)
Nicle Scherzinger is trying to come solo from Pussycat Dolls I guess and it makes sense too because she is the only one who does anything other than wear skimpy clothes and dance in the background. This track is produced by Polow Da Don who is turning out to be quite the producer nowadays. Great work on this track as well.



Jadyn Maria - Villain ft Flo Rida
Jadyn Maria is a new name for me too, but with the name Flo Rida I had to listen to this track. This is a pretty good track following the latest trend of dance inspired R&B with funky club sounds and of course Flo Rida.



Mims- Let Me Do My Thang ft Shawty Lo
After "This is Why I'm Hot" Mims haven't been able to come up with a decent song for a while. Today that just changed with Let Me Do Mu Thang. From the songs that supposedly leaked off his new album this is is my favorite.

I hate to post this right after I made a post on how Kid Cudi is going to be the next big thing. But in a vociferous rant in his blog Kid Cudi announced his retiring from the music industry. Retiring??? Even before his debut album dropped? Doesn't it sound crazy?

I don't know what got into him( or if this whole thing is a big publicity stunt). Anyways he claims the drama of being famous is way more harder than the stuff he had to deal when he was broke. Kid Cudi is the new kid on the Hip Hop block who is setting the pace for a whole new sound. His music fuses dance, rock, rnb and hip hop and he is currently the hottest new hip-hop artist in the US, and has signed to Kanye West’s label after catching the Love Lockdown artist’s attention with the release of his mixtape A Kid Named Cudi.

I first saw him on Kanye's "Heartbreak" which featured him. Then came the immensely lovable "Day 'N' Night"


Then dropped his Sky Might Fall which is produced by Kanye and just by that you all know its bound to be great. A totally different sound.


With the release of Super Boo Kid Cudi just made his place firm in my "albums to look out for list". You have to listen to this guy.


He released another track today called Switching Lanes which is also pretty good.

X-Men Origins:Wolverine
To start off the brand new trailer of X-Men Origins has hit the internet. I get the feeling that this one is going to be epic. There is also a flash of young Cyclops in there. Wonder how thats gonna turn out.

Plot: Wolverine lives a mutant life, seeks revenge against Victor Creed (who will later become Sabertooth) for the death of his girlfriend, and ultimately ends up going through the mutant Weapon X program.


Star Trek
A new trailer of Star Trek has been released. I've never been a Star Trek fan and as a matter opf fact I positively hated the only movie I've seen(Star Trek: Nemesis). But from the looks of this trailer I may like this one.

Plot: A chronicle of the early days of James T. Kirk and his fellow USS Enterprise crew members.



Public Enemies
Johnny Depp and Christian Bale- Do I need to say more? May be the director Michael Mann(The Heat, The Insider, The Last oh the Mohicans) ring a bell.

Plot: The Feds try to take down notorious American gangsters John Dillinger, Baby Face Nelson and Pretty Boy Floyd during a booming crime wave in the 1930s.



17 again
A new trailer of 17 again is up at YouTube. This sounds pretty similar to "13 going on 30" but just the reverse. But from the trailer this can be entertaining. A good family entertainer I guess.

Plot: About a guy whose life didn't quite turn out how he wanted it to and wishes he could go back to high school and change it. He wakes up one day and is seventeen again and gets the chance to rewrite his life.

For the final part of the series I decided to club two categories together and finished off the series.

Rock Remixes of Hip Hop songs are not uncommon, but good ones are rare. But there is a band called Purple Popcorn who specialize in this particular genre. I have to say they have a talent for it.I have featured one of their collaboration with Mims earlier in this series. Here is a few of their remixes( just search "purple popcorn" in YouTube for all of their remixes, or just got their MySpace page)

1. Purple Popcorn ft Chris Brown - Kiss Kiss remix
This catchy single from Chris Brown was prime material for a Rock Remix and the Purple Popcorn did a great job with this adding catchy Guitar riffs and drums to the track at all the right places.



2. Purple Popcorn ft Lil Wayne - Lollipop remix
I think this is one of their best remixes. The enormously catchy Lil Wayne song Lollipop just got that extra "Oomph" and it just works.



3. Purple Popcorn - Swagger like us remix
Purple Popcorn has remixed the Grammy award winning track featuring a stellar list of artists. This is an OK remix because the success of the track is predominantly based upon the success of the original song. But it picks up the heat towards the middle and you will love the underlying guitar work by the time you finish the song.

I can't find this track anywhere, but their MySpace page. Head over there and show them some love. T.I's Live You Life, Rihanna's Disturbia and Usher's Love in this Club are their other remixes all of which can be listened to at their MySpace page.


Now moving on to the next category, we have the, for lack of a better word, Lil Wayne's Brand of Rock. Talk has been ripe about a rock album from Lil Wayne and it just got a 100% confirmed by the release of the music video for Prom queen the last day. This particular brand of rock has enough element of Hip Hop that it can be considered as a merger of the two genres.

1. Lil Wayne - Prom Queen
Undoubtedly, the one that started it all. Lil Wayne's Prom Queen leaked on to the internet long before and been doing rounds collecting all kinds of opinions from "absolute crap" to "awesomeness". I for one is a guy who supports artists trying out something new. The first time I heard Prom Queen I was not a fan of it, but the track grew on me and now I love that track.

2. Kevin Rudolf ft Lil Wayne - Let it Rock
This track released way back in July 2008 when Lil Wayne's talk of the Rock album was minimal. This is a great track, and for that matter the whole album from Kevin Rudolf is great and it features artists like Rick Ross and Nas in his Rock/Pop/Hip Hop album-a must have album.

3. Lil Wayne - Hot Revolver
This is most probably another track off Rebirth- the rock album from Lil Wayne. This one features Kevin Rudolf again and in this one its Lil Wayne in the lead. This is not as catchy as Prom Queen but still it comes very close. Just got a bit too far with autotune that some parts are annoying. But on the whole very tasteful track.

4. Kat Deluna ft Lil Wayne- Unstoppable
I heard the other day on Letterman that Lil Wayne apparently been learning guitar for the last two years or so he says. I checked out some of his live performances with the guitar and man he sucks. I can't understand how he claims he is playing the guitar on his songs. Anyways this song has the guitar pretty predominantly and has a very catchy rhythm. Lil Wayne or no Lil Wayne this has some pretty good guitar work.

The 4th trailer for the new Harry Potter movie has released and its awesome as always. The CGI work in the movie is amazing and the whole smoke thing is pretty innovative. I have read the book and this one has the potential to be an epic movie. Can't wait to see it in theaters. Releasing on July 17th 2009.

Judd Apatow's Funny People
I think nobody needs an introduction to Judd Apatow. The guy who brought us Knocked Up, Pineapple Express and The 40 year old virgin comes a new movie with Seth Rogen and Adam Sandler as the lead actors.

Plot:George is a very successful stand up comedian who learns that he has an untreatable blood disorder and is given less than a year to live. Ira is a struggling up-and-coming stand up comedian who works at a deli and has yet to figure out his onstage persona. One night, these two perform at the same club and George takes notice of Ira. George hires Ira to be his semi-personal assistant as well as his friend.



Chocolate HD Trailer
I don't know if any of you have heard about Tony Jaa. I'm not really a martial arts kind of guy but this guy made me watch all his films even though they had like zero plot. The action of this guy is something else. No strings, no stunt doubles and 100 % real action. Chocolate is along the similar thread and by the same guy who made Ong Bak and Tom Yum Goong, but with a female lead. From the trailer this one also promises a load of action- Muay Thai style.

Have any of you seen "The Marine", the action film by John Cena. I laughed so much that I was on the floor watching that. Well, after that disaster John Cena is starring in another "action" movie 12 rounds. The only consolation is that the director of this movie is a pretty decent one who gave us Die Hard 2, and an array of mediocre films. Atleast this won't be as bad as The Marine. From the trailer the movie sounds like a mix of Die Hard action and Die Hard 3 style "chasing after the clues".

Plot: Detective Danny Baxter (Cena) discovers his girlfriend (Scott) has been kidnapped by a ex-con tied to Baxter's past, and he'll have to successfully complete 12 challenges in order to secure her safe release.

Gifted are a two-piece musical experiment formed by vocalist PJo and producer Saum G. They got the curious blend between Hip Hop and Electro that just works. I'm surprised why they didn't get the attention they deserve. Check Out their MySpace page and you can find 5 of their songs and its all awesome.

"Their first single “Music” is a curious blend of hip-hop and electro — and at some points you hear some classical strings and piano. Something else that strikes me as interesting is the way PJo sings the song. At the beginning of the track, he’s whispering, but that doesn’t last long — he builds up the song into a pumped-up crescendo. Very nice. Also, the start-stop trend PJo has going is reminiscent of rap, but it still holds that sing-song R&B vibe throughout. They even get their Kanye on and sorta jump on the vocoder for a couple of seconds. Very tastefully done."

Continuing with the series, its time for the Hip Hop songs which featured Rock artists for their Vocals. This is a category that has comparatively less number of songs. May be its not the common, or may be I just haven't come across wit yet. Anyways here goes the small list.

1. Bizzy Bone feat. Joel madden of Good Charlotte - I'm the One
Bizzy Bone was an artist I haven't heard till this song. This song absolutely rocks and I was in love with Bizzy Bone until I checked out the rest of his songs :D . But this song is amazing and Joel Madden's vocals give the song another dimension. Somebody tell me how he raps so fast. I don't understand a single thing he is saying but I still love this track :D

2. Young Dre feat. Good Charlotte - Workin'
This is a song off the soundtrack of Madden 09 - the EA Sports game. I guess Young Dre just used samples from Good Charlotte's song My Own Way, but the result is awesome. The song is ripe with melody and flow and Good Charlotte part and Young Dre part is awesome.

3. Fall Out Boy ft Travis,Gym Class Heros,Tyga, Kanye West,Paul Wall,Skin Head Rob,Lupe Fiasco , Lil Wayne- This Ain't a Scene, Its an Arms Race
I know what you are thinking- Whoa thats a long list of featured artists. Exactly my first thought. This stellar list of artists did a great job in bringing out a remix that just works. The original song was great, the remix by Kanye West alone was even better and this just tops it all.

4. Three 6 Mafia ft Good Charlotte - My Own Way
Another song that sampled Good Charlotte, wow. This song also has its backbone in Good Charlotte's sample. I felt Three 6 Mafia just rapped around it and made the song work big time. Even if you don't love Three Six Mafia the song is lovable because of Good Charlotte's verses.

The 2009 Academy Award function just ended and Slumdog Millionaire sweeps 8 out of 10 categories it was nominated. I am really happy now and that is cause of many reasons. Firstly this Oscar awards saw an Indian get three Oscars- Best Original Score and Best Original Song for A.R Rahman and Best Sound Mixing for Resul Pookutty. Secondly I am happy that all my predictions for the movie Slumdog Millionaire and its music is coming true.

The rags to riches story Slumdog Millionaire fulfills its Oscar destiny by bagging the Best Picture and seven other awards, including the directorial honours for Danny Boyle. A story of hope amid squalor in Mumbai, India, “Slumdog Millionaire” also had wins that include adapted screenplay, cinematography, editing and both music Oscars, score and song. Danny expresses his gratitude to everyone and especially to the people of Mumbai saying they “dwarf even this guy” as he held up his Oscar statue.

With two of the three song nominations, “Slumdog” won for “Jai Ho,” the rousing Bollywood number that closes the film. “Slumdog” composer A.R. Rahman, a dual Oscar winner for the score and song, said the movie was about “optimism and the power of hope.” “All my life, I’ve had a choice of hate and love. I chose love, and I’m here,” Rahman said.

The other top winners were Kate Winslet who got Best Actress for the Holocaust themed "The Reader", Sean Penn who got the Best Actor for his portrayal of Harvey Milk in "Milk", Heath Ledger who got Best Supporting Actor for his unforgettable rendition of The Joker in the movie "The Dark Knight", and Penelope Cruz who got Best Supporting Actress for "Vicky Cristina Barcelona".

Ledger's Oscar for the Warner Bros. blockbuster was accepted by Ledger’s parents and sister on behalf of the actor’s 3-year-old daughter, Matilda.

“I have to say this is ever so humbling, just being amongst such wonderful people in such a wonderful industry,” said his father, Kim Ledger. “We’d like to thank the academy for recognizing our son’s amazing work, Warner Bros., and Christopher Nolan in particular for allowing Heath the creative license to develop and explore this crazy Joker character.”

Hugh Jackman who hosted this year's Oscars was not the usual comedian host, but a song and dance man. He asked an interesting question in his song- why don't comic book movies get nominated?- a definite dig at the omission of The Dark Knight from most of the important categories. I definitely felt it at least deserved a nomination for Best Picture.

I hope everybody enjoyed the first part of this series. Now in the second part I am going to list Hip Hop songs which have guitar riffs as the background. There are a lot of Hip Hop songs with Rock riffs and its hard to find them; but well worth the trouble cause these songs are almost every time off the charts.

1. Jay Z- 99 Problems
Almost everybody knows this song but still it isn't fair not to include it in the list. I first heard the song in the collaboration with Linkin Park and got really interested and checked out the original version and loved that too.

2. Trick Daddy ft Lil jon, Twista- Let's Go
The name Lil Jon always promises us something exciting and you are not wrong most of the time. Let's Go is very much "crunk" and the guitar riffs just add to the song.

3. Cypress Hill- Rock Superstar
I've never been a fan of Cypress Hill but I do love an occasional song from them. One of those songs is Rock Superstar. This song got a great rock riff opening the song that you will be interested right from the start. The song is about being a Rockstar, the money, the fame and all those things. There is a song called Rap Superstar too. Basically the same song but with some differences in lyrics. While Rock Superstar was about the Rock Star, Rap Superstar is about the Hip Hop stars.

4. Shop Boyz ft Lil Jon- Party Like a Rock Star
I honestly had'nt heard about the Shop Boyz before this song. Apparently they are a grammy nominated group whose debut album Rockstar Mentality didn't do that well. They are most widely known for their single Party Like a Rockstar.

5. Chamillionaire ft Lil Wayne- Rock Star
If you are a fan of Chamillionaire or you saw the movie Never Back Down, you might have heard this amazing song. Chamillionaire is one of my favorite artists and he totally rocked this track. Talking about Rockstar, R.Kelly has a very good track called Rockstar as well.

7. P.O.D- The Payback
P.O.D or Payable On Death is basically a Rock band but with some strong Hip hop roots. They always tend to play on the edge of both the genres and is one of my "looked out for" artist. The Payback is from XXX 2 soundtrack( which as I said in the last part is awesome).

8. Hush - Fired Up and Rise Again
I have heard only a couple of songs from Hush, but they all rocked. Fired Up is featured on Need For Speed: Most Wanted(the clean version). This song got such flow that I fell in love with it at first sight. Rise again is a comparatively new track, most probably from his new album. That also got a beautiful blend between Rock and Hip Hop.
